Work hard and let the dream fly——2009 qingcongquan annual report

During the past one year, with the support and help of caring people from all over the society, Shanghai Qingcongquan Training Center for Children With Special Needs (hereinafter referred to as ”QCQ”) made steady progresses in performing our mission, helping children with autism and their families. Hereby, by issuing this annual report, we want to express our sincere gratitude to all the people who give a hand and back us up, for what you have done greatly encouraged us to move ahead with more power. This brief report also summarizes one year’s hard work of our teachers and the children’s parents. It is now the time to share and review the past days, get prepared for future journey, and continue to make effort to help children with autism in China and their families!
    

It was in the year of 2009, when our autistic children set balloons free in spring, we found earnest hope in the audience’s eyes; when the Venture Capital Competition for Commonweal Projects was held in summer, we heard cordial appealing of the teachers and the parents in the studio; when our children performed wonderful shows at Christmas party, we applauded enthusiastically with 400 guests. Those scenes with tears and smiles, were so impressive that they would last in our memory forever. QCQ developed well with the caring and blessing of many people, just like a small tree grown strong and tall in the sunshine, although it also went through wind and rain.

1. Teaching

l 54 students were recruited, as the accumulated number accounted to 233

l 17 students got admission to ordinary kindergartens after accepting training here, 3 to ordinary elementary school

l Utilized American psychology assessment system PER-R and completed evaluation for 57 person-time. The result of this assessment showed that the training provided in QCQ helped students to improve their ability more quickly and increased the speed by 25% on average, while in the best sample, the improvement speed was increased by 133% during a period of 6 months.

l Two new lessons, image exchange system and personal work timesheet, were added into cognition course.

l Fitness ball lesson was newly included in sensory integration group to improve the teaching plan of sensory integration and game.

l After school situational lesson and theme lesson were opened for full-day classes.

l Early childhood program, RDI group and situational social intercourse lesson were newly opened.

2.      Communication with parents

l Provided consulting service to parents of new students for 132 times, giving them suggestion and solutions about training at home

l Hosted parents’ communication activities for 6 times, which attracted 222 person-time to attend

l Invited professors to give lectures for 3 times and the audience amounted to 276

 

3. Events

l January 28th, parents’ board of year 2009 was founded.

l February, subsidy for poor students was set up with the donated money from charity foundation

l March, QCQ was invited to take part in the TV program “Star Charity Night”

l March, A spring outing named “hand in hand, dream your dream” was jointly held by (Yi Men Software Company) and QCQ

l March 31st, The art exhibition, talented young painters, was held in Public Service Center of Shanghai Pudong

l April 2nd, Chen Jie (founder of QCQ) was invited by the China Disabled Persons" Federation to give a speech in the inaugural concession of the first Autism Committee on behalf of NGO

l April 22nd, Chen Jie was invited to attend the 4th International Special Education Seminar in Qatar

l May 15th, the volunteer training was held by QCQ on the International Help-the-disabled Day

l June 1st, a grass land sport games was held.

l From June to July, a public lecture focusing on the topic of autistic children was gave by Mr. Zhen (a professor and teacher with plentiful experience in this area)

l August, Representative team of QCQ was invited to take part in the TV program ‘No Free Lunch” as one of the participants of the first Shanghai Venture Capital Competition for Commonweal Projects

l September, team building training was held on Teacher’s Day

l October 3rd, an autumn outing was jointly held by Ctrip and QCQ

l November 21st to 26th, Training Courses of Teachers for children with autism’ were jointly held by Heep Hong Society Hong Kong, Shanghai Children’s Hospital and QCQ.

l December 6th, activities aiming at spreading knowledge about autism were held in the International Volunteers’ Day, in which a famous singer Jianya Cai came to meet the children.

l December 26th, a Christmas Party under the name of ‘sharing and growing up’ was held in QCQ.

4. Team Building

l Professional training: sent 10 teachers to attend professional training on the aspects of music, game, sensory integration, etc.

l Invited professors to give lectures including 8 from Heep Hong Society Hong Kong and Mr. Zhen Yuelai, the author of the book named ”guidance of education for children with autism”, who also gave direction on teachers’ work in QCQ

l Professor Harumi Castle from Japan came to Shanghai, China to give guidance and direction for QCQ’s teachers for several times.

l Held technique competition and awarded outstanding teachers

l Set up yearly assessment, ranking and rewarding mechanisms

 

5. Media Promotion

l 2009.2.3 , an article “a spring of love” in the magazine “the most beloved”

l 2009.3.11, an article ”psychological health in the area of autism” in Life Times

l 2009.3.10 special performance focus on QCQ in TV program Star Charity Night

l 2009.4.6, an article ”charity become more sincere with understanding” in Xinmin Evening Newspaper

l 2009.4.8, an article ”small snails with slow paces” in Xinmin Evening Newspaper

l 2009.5.5, an article ”devote to the career of helping children autism after her resigning” in China’s Civilization Network

l 2009.7, an article “Watcher for Rain Man——Chen Jie” in magazine Date with Lu Yu

l 2009.8, took part in the Venture Capital Competition for Commonweal Projects held by Shanghai Financial and Economics Channel

l 2009.12.6, a report of an famous singer Jianya Cai weeping for children with autism in QCQ published by more than 20 medias, including Shanghai Life and Fashion Channel, South-East Satellite Channel etc..

l 2009.12.29 a report named ”silent flowers” in TV program Mrs. Helper of Shanghai Education Television Station

l 2009.12 a report about the Christmas party in QCQ was published by Dingding Website and Xinmin Website

 

Awards

l Award nomination of 10 good people and good deeds in Shanghai, 2009

l One of the first batch of winners in Shanghai Venture Capital Competition for Commonweal Projects

l Chen Jie was awarded the title of Outstanding Working Woman of Changning District

8. Plan for 2010

l To move to a new place

l To set up QCQ Parents’ Co-assistance Club and resources center and to designate personnel to take charge of parents’ concerned work

l To Modify and improve courses arrangement and to alter training model from taking individual training as priority to the combination of half-day and full-day class of individual and group training.

l To accept children with Down’s syndrome and to set up Recovery office of Down’s Syndrome, which will provide daily recovery service for children with Down’s syndrome.

l To organize activities as holding talk tools lectures, seeing patients on a volunteer basis by experts and inviting experts to give guidance for our work in QCQ

l To send teachers to study on the aspect of sensory integration, floor time and games etc. in Hong Kong and Japan

l To improve the teachers’ assessment system and to set up an award fund to encourage outstanding teachers

l To hold various activities for commonweal projects, and to enhance QCQ’s impact with the help of media

                                                                      

In the year 2009, with the help of caring people from all over the society and with the great cooperation of every staff in our team, QCQ went through a tough but blessed year. Now, we would like to issue this report as an answer sheet to share with you, who are always care about us, our happiness and touching. We are so appreciated for the love and help from you. We still have a long way to go, as to help special children in China and make a good environment for them to grow up happily like other children. We are also looking forward to your care and help in the future days. Please be with us. We believe that with our hard working, QCQ will grow up from a small tree to a stronger one, thus we can help more children with needs and their families.
